Title Dispersal and Emergence Trap for Thrips Tabaci Lindeman
Abstract
This utility model relates to a dispersal and emergence trap for Thrips tabaci Lindeman which is used for the monitoring and management of Thrips tabaci Lindeman, commonly known as onion thrips. Thrips that feed on many different plant species often migrate into gardens and farms. Mature thrips larvae usually drop to the soil to pupate while adult thrips emerge from the soil. The utility model consists of a drum made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) schedule 40 pipe with 90-mm average inside diameter and a height of 250- mm, a 27-mm circular hole drilled on the side of said drum at an offset distance of 100-mm from the bottom end of the drum, a circular dispersal plate centrally attached on the top of said drum, an L-pipe with one end slottedly attached on the said 27-mm circular hole and a collection jar fixedly attached on the other end of said L-pipe.
